What’s Happening in Mallorca

Mallorca is a very popular tourist destination for people all over Europe, many come for the fine dining and the fantastic weather and sun that only an island like this can offer. As well as being a holiday destination to come and relax to though there are so many events and opportunities for you to get involved with, a chance to really experience the best of Mallorca.

Running through the first week of February is the annual cycle race through the streets and roads of Mallorca, it’s a chance for you to experience some of the world’s best long distance cyclists in their prime and with the cost being minimal it’s a fantastic day out for the entire family. Speaking of family, if you are arriving in Mallorca with children then taking them to one of the amazingly colourful and welcoming carnivals to welcome in Lent is a day which really promotes the atmosphere of this fantastic island.

If you love to do some shopping, and let’s face it who doesn’t, then you absolutely must head for the Consell Market. Held every Thursday it’s a unique history filled event which offers all kinds of goods from clothing to furniture, the perfect place to discover something desirable for yourself or as a present for someone. The sense of history and buzz of activity is so unique that even if you are just browsing you really feel like one of the locals.

Mallorca is a city steeped in history and heritage, and with it comes a surprisingly large amount of art exhibitions and museums. The Can Morey de Santmartí Museum only recently opened its doors for all those interested in experiencing some of the finest art. It mainly houses a range of excellent work by Salvador Dali, many of which are exclusive to the museum. Aside from the fantastic art on offer though the three floors of the museum there are spacious grounds for you to relax in the sun. Its a fantastic blend of traditional art by one of the most well known and respected Spanish artists with a fantastic atmosphere and modern thinking.

At the other end of the scale there is also a chance to really let loose and enjoy some fantastic professional sporting occasions in Mallorca, such as taking in an evening football match at the Iberostar Stadium, the home of RCD Mallorca. The Spanish football league is known across the world as being the home of the best players and biggest clubs and this really provides an incredible atmosphere with many tens of thousands of football fans in the stadium. Becoming one of the locals and cheering on RCD Mallorca is something you will remember for a long time, especially if Barcelona or Real Madrid come to town during your visit.
